Taifa Cup Get boost  Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has lauded the Taifa Cup women soccer tournament’s sponsors, Proin Company, for the firm’s commitment towards supporting promotion of the women game in the country.  TFF Women Soccer Development Committee member Blasi Kiondo, said ensuring the early stages of the tournament were held smoothly was a challenging feat but the sponsors helped the federation supervise the games successfully.   ‘The tournament has brought excitement in domestic women soccer and plenty of talented players were on display in matches that I attended’, he said.  ‘Some of the teams did not qualify for the quarter-finals but they have several good players. The players will be recommended for the national senior women soccer team’s provisional squad’, he added.   Kiondo said the national senior women soccer team’s head coach Rogasian Kaijage, will attend the matches at the Azam Complex to identify players for his squad.   Proin Company presented equipment to all teams that will battle it out at the quarterfinal stage. The quarter finalists’ captains received the equipment at the TFF premises at the Karume Memorial Stadium. The quarter-final stage of the tournament kicked off in Dar es Salaam yesterday with two matches at the Azam Complex.   In the day's opening match, slated to start at 3pm, Mwanza will face Kigoma, whereas Coast Region and Tanga will lock horns in the second match. Ilala will play Iringa in the third quarter-final game starting at 3pm today and the stage's last game, which starts at 5pm, will see Temeke host Mbeya. The semi-final matches will take place on Thursday, while the final will be held on Sunday from 4.15pm. The final will be preceded by a third-place play off.    According to TFF, all teams that have progressed to the quarter finals are staying at the Msimbazi Hostel. The tournament started on January 1 with Mwanza taking on Mara at the former’s venue, CCM Kirumba Stadium.
